Prepare Your Mind Before a Workout
Hey there champs, Christian here .
So today I want to talk about something that is often overlooked in bodybuilding: mental preparation.
All the successful people in fitness and sport that I've spoken to have one thing in common. Before they start training, they mentally prepare themselves for what they call the "task at hand."
Your workout shouldn't just be something you do when you feel like it. Treat it as a task that has to be completed successfully.
Turn Your Workout Into a Mission
Before you enter the gym, know exactly what needs to be done.
Know what you're training, what exercises you're doing and what you want to accomplish.
Don't walk into the gym thinking, "Let's see how I feel today."
Walk in thinking:
"This is today's task. I'm here to complete it."
That simple change in mindset can make a huge difference.
If your workout consists of five exercises, those five exercises are the mission. Your job is to complete them with good technique, proper effort and focus.
Don't worry about the entire workout at once.
Complete the first exercise.
Then the next.
Then the next.
By treating each part of the workout as something that must be completed, you turn training from something optional into something you are committed to finishing.
Don't Depend on Motivation
You won't always feel motivated.
Some days you'll feel strong and ready to attack the weights. Other days you'll be tired and distracted.
That's where the "task at hand" mentality becomes powerful.
You don't need to feel motivated to complete a task.
You simply need to execute.
Stay Focused
Once you start your workout, forget everything else for a while.
Put the phone down.
Stop worrying about what happened earlier.
Don't think about tomorrow.
Focus on the set you're doing.
Your only responsibility is to complete the task in front of you.
One set at a time.
One exercise at a time.
Until the workout is done.
Make Training Non-Negotiable
The biggest shift happens when you stop asking yourself whether you feel like training.
You've already decided.
The workout is on the schedule.
It's a task that needs to be completed.
Of course, there will be legitimate reasons to rest or change a workout. But on a normal training day, don't negotiate with yourself for an hour before getting started.
Prepare your mind, enter the gym and execute the plan.
